The first picture was taken a few weeks ago when Arkansas played Kansas. Ella watching Nemo and eating a snack and Romeo waiting on a crumb to fall.

I took a picture of my Chicken Enchiladas just because I was so proud! If you know me, you know I don't enjoy cooking and if I do cook its basic things: chili, tacos, spaghetti, Alfredo, tacos, chili, tacos. See a pattern?? I got my MIL's recipe and this is what turned out. Delish!!!

Next up: Statistics Class. This officially starts week 3 of my statistics class. So far, so good. I was a little overwhelmed at first but I've got into a groove.

This picture was from Friday. One of my students brought this Transformer to school and had it sitting on his desk ready to work. WHAT?! Umm no. So I put it on my desk, took a picture, and sent it to his mom. She was a little upset to say the least.

I attempted to create a bow holder out of a picture frame and some ribbon but it didn't work like I thought soooo this is what I came up with. I just took a picture mat I had and turned it into a bow holder. Tada! (I was afraid to add more bows thinking it might break.)

If it is, then please Lord forgive me but............... I made an A in my last class. My AA posted the grades a little early, but I checked and sure enough.... WOO HOO! I just finished my fifth class and so far I'm maintained a 4.0. Lord help me on this next one. Statistics and Research.Gag. I've heard its killer, so if I don't post anything after this next class, then you will know what happened. But.... I'm going to try my best!! If you read this...pray for me. A lot. :)

Shawn had surgey yesterday morning. It was an outpatient surgery at the hospital. He had a incisional hernia that needed repaired. Everything went great and he is home recovering. Answered prayers.

Annnd.. I don't have any pics to prove it, but Tues after school let out at noon, Shawn met me in Branson and we took Ella to see the Miracle of Christmas at Sight and Sound theatre. She did soooo good considering the show lasted almost 3 hours. She loved the animals! Loved! I love this time of year. We are going to try and go to SDC one last time before the end of the year.

And Christmas! I can't wait. Ella's going to be sooo excited about her gift. :) I think I'm more excited about the food. Pics to come... Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas!!!

Oh, Christmas Tree

For the past couple of years we had a tiny Christmas tree... We decided since Ella was getting to the age where she enjoys all the lights and decor, we upgraded to a bigger one. I begged and I mean begged for a fake one, but we agreed that this was best until they go on sale after Christmas.

$19.95 at Wal-Mart! I wanted something modern. With the help of my husband and hours in Big Lots and Wal-Mart this is what we came up with. Thanks to my MIL for the fabulous topper!

Tonight, Shawn and I went to hear Dave Ramsey at C of O. All I can say is WOW! So inspirational! I have read Total Money Makeover and loved it. As Shawn says, "Dave is so logical and practical and just a down to earth kind of guy." I loved hearing his stories and his principles to apply to your life. At the beginning, he read an email he got from one of his listeners. He shared how this guy listened to Dave's testimony and sat in his car at 5 am and prayed and received Christ. Dave shared that is why he loves his job. Stories like that and people like him. So good! If you haven't read his books, I encourage you to pick one up. His new book EntreLeadership just came out last month. We will be adding it to our collection. No doubt!

Everyone in my house is sick at the moment...praying I don't get it. Soo I spent the day cleaning, doing laundry, and on the Internet.

I sorta kinda have an idea on Ella's birthday. It's in my head, now it needs to come together. Ella was running fever today (allergies??) so I spent most of the day looking on etsy. I've only purchased bows on there but omg I could spend hours (I did spend hours) looking up stuff. I will post ideas soon! I have sent out the majority of the party invitations and have decided on cupcakes instead of cake. We are having it at our house this year and I think I'm doing pink and hot pink for colors. I have picked out and purchased the majority of her gifts. So what's left to do??

My MIL and SIL came over tonight to drop off some meds and cake. My SIL pulled up this adorable bow holder on Facebook and I think I'm in love!! I'm not crafty by any means but this is doable. Can't wait!!!!!

These are the only two pics I took today of Ella. Im horrible about taking pictures. I keep telling myself that I'm missing some special moments by not snappin a pic. Today, all the Hovis's headed to Springfield to a car show. We had intentions of taking Ella to the zoo while we were there but ended up staying at the car show way too long!!

We did get away for a little while to run all over town looking for this Children's consignment store. Got lost on the way there and back. Ended up being a wasted trip because i didn't find a thing.

But got to spend the day with family, so it was worth while. I'm hating myself for not taking more pics....

And on a side note... Ella is ALMOST completely potty trained. I will try to post a video Shawn took a couple nights ago of Ella using the potty. HILARIOUS!!!!

Started my fourth graduate class last Monday and so far it's a breeze. We'll see if I can keep my 4.0. Although I looked at my 35 internship activities that I have to complete before next October and I'm stressin. A full time job, a two year old, classes, plus these activities? What??

1. Only two more working days this week (off on Friday).

2. Going to a marriage conference with my hubby this weekend.

3. Getting my hair done tomorrow after school (sick of the mop on my head and nasty roots)

4. Friday is also the last day of my THIRD graduate course (only nine more to go, yuck.)

5. Getting these in the mail the end of the week. CAN NOT WAIT!!!

6. Ella will be 2 in a little over a month. Craziness! No clue on party ideas either.

7. Why do teachers get paid once a month? That's torture.

8. We have to schedule our potlucks at work for AFTER pay-day. Sad, I know.

9. I'm getting ready to place an order to Scholastic for $389.00. And the best part, I'm not paying for it!!! I love spending other people's money.

Date Night/Random

What a movie!! I think this really opened my eyes.. Of course we learned about the Civil Rights Movement in school and I even teach my students about it but this movie really put things in perspective. Shawn was sweet enough to go watch it with me. And thats all we talked about at dinner. I want to read the book!!! I laughed and cried. Soo good!!

Afterwards, we headed to Cracker Barrel. It reminded me of college. I think my roommate and I ate there at least 3 times a week! Biscuits and apple butter. Say what?? Yummy.... Then we ran by K-Mart and Wal-mart to look at some tools?? While we were there, I got to look at a few birthday gifts I want to get for Ella. I'd really like to get her a kitchen set and maybe even one of those fun kid easels!! So many fun toys now days!! Where was all of this when I was a kid??

I've never shared this on here, just because its still a work in progress, but I have a blog for my parents/students. I've had it a little over a year but I'm still not completely satisfied with it.

And... On another note... I just changed my degree to Educational Leadership. Same school, same number of classes, same about of money. I honestly don't have a clue what I want to do, but I felt like I needed a few more options just in case I didn't want to teach the rest of my life. Thankfully, all the classes I've taken so far will go towards this degree. Who knows. I might be working at Wal-mart. Less stress for sure!

It's About Time!

I just realized that it's been a while since my last post.. It's been a little crazy lately. So let me try to start back at the beginning.... I started back to school a couple weeks ago. I started my third graduate course last Monday. Kids started last Monday. Ella has had a really hard time at daycare since we've been back in school. Today was the first day she hasn't cried ALL day. (and when I say all day, I really mean all day).

I'm beyond exhausted at the end of each day. Beyond exhausted! I could seriously crawl in bed at 7:00. No biggie.

Ella has really started talking like crazy here lately. She's soo fun! She has the best personality. Here lately she says ''mommy".. And if that doesn't get her attention, then she says "Pegan" (Megan) Where does she learn this stuff? She loves books and absolutely LOVES music!!! At school she's been doing the chicken dance. I guess she had to show her teacher how to do it. Lol. I can't believe she will be two in almost two months.

School Mode to the MAX

Last week, Jaime (other fourth grade teacher) and I went to a three day workshop in Searcy. It was all about Literacy. Let me just say that I have never been much of a reader, other than the 'have to' kind of stuff. To be quite honest, I struggled with reading in school. Not so much with fluency, buy with comprehension. I could read a passage about 10 times and still have a hard time telling you what I read. Sooo...now that I have a toddler, and I'm taking graduate classes, there is hardly anytime for anything else. But...after jut three days of this workshop, I have been encouraged to read more! I firmly believe the more you read, the more intelligent you become. This workshop is a two year commitment. We just touched on how to implement reading in our classrooms, but just with that, I have been in complete school mode. I've been researching, planning, thinking, on how to set up my classroom library and room. So...today I ran up to the school to start working on my room. I know what you're thinking... Umm you still have 3 weeks, enjoy it while you can. Well, that's just it. I'm not the type to put things off. I get stressed out, so I tend to want to start on things early. Anywho...So I took Ella to school with me today and I worked for a few hours. Unpacking, rearranging, organizing everything in my room. I'm doing a little at a time so I don't get so overwhelmed. I always look forward to a new year. New kids, new personalities, new ideas... So fun!

Glasses/Races/Fourth

Friday we headed to Springfield so I could get new glasses. Ella broke mine a few weeks ago, so this was a much needed (expensive) trip. We waited for hours and had the privilege of hearing at least three people go off because of the wait. While we waited and waited, Shawn had to entertain. Lol.

Saturday night, Shawn, his brother and SIL, and I all went to the Sprint Car Races in
Springfield. It was fun, but I had dirt everywhere after we left. Nose, ears, eyes... Pretty nasty.

The Fourth.... We didn't do a gosh darn thing for the fourth. We were lazy for sure! Ella has been sick the past few days with a runny nose and cough, so we just stayed at home. We did go outside to see the fireworks, but Ella kept saying "inside...inside" If you haven't noticed, she's scared of pretty much everything!!

And... I thought I'd end with this. Ella's favorite thing about summer.... "I ceeeeeam"

Stroller/Jogging Update: There isn't an update. Bottom line. I have been sleeping in and haven't done jack.

Ella: Monday, Ella and I went to Wal-Mart to get groceries. While we were there, we stopped by the electronics section and found a Barney DVD. Oh, how Ella LOVES Barney. We know all the songs by heart. (notice how I said, we, not she.) Sad, I know. We also grabbed a DVD player to put in her room. I've spoiled her since we've been on break and she's been sleeping with me or in the spare bedroom. I HAVE to get her back in her bed and on a schedule. Asleep at 11 and up at 9 just isn't cutting it. So...this was my attempt to get her back in her bed. Play Barney in her room, in her bed, hoping she would fall asleep. Ha. Hasn't worked yet. But...I did take out her changing table, since she's way too big for it and I rearranged her room. I'm hoping for her birthday she will get a few 'big girl' toys to play with, so maybe she will stay back there longer than 10 minutes at a time. And she's 20 months!! So big!

Class Update: I am hating the class I'm taking right now. Philosophies of Education. I just dozed off typing it. There is nothing exciting about the philosophies of education. Let me repeat. Nothing.

Twitter Update: I've become obsessed. Some of you are bloggers, facebookers, whateverers. I'm liking twitter. So fun! Try it out.

School Update: I have 5 weeks until I have to go back. *Tear* I told you a while back that I switched rooms, so now I have to fix up my 'new' room the week before inservice.

Three Years and Counting...

Last night, Shawn and I celebrated our three year anniversary. Three years!!! I know this sounds crazy, but sometimes I think we've been married much longer. Idk why. In a good way though...Anyways...he took off at noon and after Ella woke up from her nap we dropped her off at Mimi's and took off to Branson. Oh, how I love Branson. Our first stop was Cantina Laredo. Heavenly. No really.. If you know me, you know how much I love mexican food. Well...this is the greatest! From there, we walked around The Landing. I stopped in Charlotte Russe, but I didn't find anything that I loved, so we headed to the truck. Next, off to return some shorts at Old Navy. Yes, Crystal, if you're reading this, I took back my cute purple shorts. The thought of spending money on shorts right now makes me sick. Then, we headed to Kohls. Yes, Kohls. Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of Kohls. I know people who are crazy about Kohls (Lindsey and Crystal) and I try to love it, but every time I go in there, the majority of the time I leave empty handed. But...for some reason this time was different. No, I did leave empty handed, but I did find some cute things I wanted. I spotted Lauren Conrad's Collection and she has some really really cute things! Most of them I can't afford, but I will be stopping by there more often to hit up her clothes if they go on sale. Coupons anyone???? Let me just give a shout out to Crystal. If she doesn't have a coupon, or its not on sale, she doesn't buy it. I have got some really great deals because of her. Woohoo!!! Anyways, so after Kohls, we headed to Andy's. Oh, how I love Andy's. Their Reese Peanut Butter Cup Concrete is to DIE for!!! Its probably around 700 calories, but its ...yes...heavenly.

Good times in Branson. Oh..btw...Kelly's Korner is doing a Week in the Life on her blog. I'm seriously thinking about doing it for next week... We'll see. Not that I have an exciting life, but I always enjoy reading what other people do throughout the day.

Fun, Fun in the Sun

Today, Shawn and I went and relaxed by the pool. Soooo nice!! I guess you can say that was our 'date nite' but it was much needed. Peace and quiet. I know that sounds horrible but with a toddler you need those moments. She keeps you on the go.

Anyways, I was able to lay out by the pool and read. I'm currently reading...

Love it! It's a must read. Pastor or not. I guess I'm a little partial because the author is our pastor but it really is a great book!! I'm not much of a reader unless it's like romance, but I haven't been able to put this book down... Love love!! Next on my list is...

I've heard such great things about this book that I can't wait to read it. However, finding the time is a whole different story!!

I would love to take a vacation to the BEACH!!! I don't need to go skiing. I don't need to visit some foreign country. I just need a beach. Water, sand, the sun...Ahhhh. Heaven. I think everyone I know (almost) is going to the beach this summer. Shawn and I haven't been anywhere really since our honeymoon, three years ago. It was so nice!!!! We stayed at the Cozumel Palace Resort and it was heaven on earth. Good times. The only 'vacation' I am taking this summer is to a workshop in Searcy in a view weeks. Other than that, there is no vacation this year. Maybe next year... I can only dream....

Stroller, Twitter, and Week 2

Week 2: Ella and I just finished week two of our summer vacation. This week was a little more eventful than last, I must say, but we still haven't been able to do a ton because of this HEAT. OMG! Its insane!!! Monday we ran up to the school to get Benchmark scores..and I must say...I was really proud. So I guess I still have a job next year. Whew. Afterwards, we headed to Branson to meet Jaime and eat at well...you guessed it...Chili's! Ella and I ran over to TJ Maxx and picked up a few items..then stopped by Maurices on the way home for a few more... Tuesday Ella played in the pool while I worked on my tan. Wednesday we did nothing which was so nice. Thursday we went to see my Granny and stopped by my aunt's on the way home to see her farm animals. Let me just say that Ella is a city girl through and through..just like her mommy! She didn't like the goats, baby deer, dog, cat, or the chickens. She screamed when a bug landed on her. Oh, in case you didn't know, she can't stand insects. So...on the way home there was a fly in the car that kept landing on her. Oh my goodness, talk about squealing. I let the window down and it finally flew away. So once again, she is a city girl, which is fine by me. Today, Ella and I washed the car and then went to Wal-Mart. So exciting! She will be staying home next time. Everything I put in the cart she wanted to eat. I had to bribe her that we would get a snack when we got home.

Stroller Update: I found a jogging stroller!!! The best part, it was only $25. So now I don't have an excuse as to why I'm not working out. Next week is the week. I am determined to lose these last 20 pounds. My goal is to get up every morning and jog for at least 45 minutes. I'll let you know how that goes...

Summer vacation that is... This week Ella and I have been sleeping late (9:00 is late for us), playing outside, watching TV, and taking naps... Goodbye Students...HELLO Summer...

So, today was officially my last day of school. Hallelujah. It has been a rough year, to say the least. I'm looking forward to a somewhat relaxing summer. Today, we let out at noon, so after I checked out, a friend and I went to Branson to eat some yummy Chili's and shop. It was nice to have some girl time. I never get that anymore it seems. Good times.

I am just about to finish up my second week of classes. It has been somewhat of a challenge, but I think I'm adjusting. Only three weeks left of my first class. Woohoo! I still have a lot to do before then, including an 8-10 page paper that I haven't started on.

Ella is sick AGAIN! Nasty ear infections. The worst.

Pictures to come... As well as, Ella's 19 month post. 19 months! Wow. So hard to believe. I will leave you with this... Shawn taught Ella how to say "I love you". Probably the sweetest, most precious thing in the whole world to tell your child you love them, and to hear them say it back.

That I am SOOOO glad today is Friday! This has been a very crazy week! It went something like this... got a pedicure (loved it), found out we're (fourth grade) moving to kindergarten classrooms (hated it) elementary awards assembly (hate talking in front of a crowd) had my feather put back in my hair (loved it) and to top it all off, a kid in my class had to be taken to the hospital while on our class field trip. Wow! And... its cold outside again. What the heck? Oh, it gets even better... I start my masters on Monday. EKKK! I'm nervous. Feels like I'm starting school all over again. So needless to say, I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Monday starts a year and a half of writing papers, reading, more papers, and even more reading. Lovely.

Shawn and I left yesterday morning for St. Louis to watch the Cards play the Brewers today (birthday present from me). Horrible game I must say, but it was nice to get away for the weekend. We had a great time!! Lots of good food and lots of laughs! I missed Ella terribly, and I'm looking forward to spending the day with her tomorrow! Isn't this pic the coolest? I love my retro cam!

Enough already! Thank you Jesus for the rain, but I just want Easter Sunday to be warm and sunny. No more rain please. We're headed back from Branson. Shawn and I went to see African Cats this afternoon (his choice I must say). It turned out to be better than expected. Afterwards, we went to Chili's (my favorite), then to Target, TJ Maxx, and The Children's Place. Fun times just the two of us...

On a side note, if gas prices continue to go up, we will be sitting at the la hacienda on the weekends. Boo on $3.77 a gallon!!!

17/18 Months and Cutting Teeth

Ella is now 17 months, almost 18. She throws fits if she doesn't get her way (which she is doing right now because she can't get on the computer) but she's a dandy. I ask them all the time at daycare if she throws fits, but they assure me she doesn't. The only time she gets upset is when someone is in her space. Lol. Sounds like her mommy. She will repeat anything and everything you say (scary). Today, Shawn was teasing me about something so I said 'shut-up', so she thought she needed to tell Romeo to 'shut-up'. Lol. Her new favorite songs are the ABC song and If You're Happy and You Know It. When we get to the part about 'If you're happy and you know it shout hooray', she will shout 'Hooray' and throw her hand in the air. So funny! I need to get these things on video. Her words are pretty clear most of the time. If she wants something, she will point and say 'this...this'. Before, everything was 'thank you' if you gave her something and now she will say 'please' and 'yes'. Here lately when I pick her up at daycare she will run to the gate and say 'DADDY!!!'. Do I really look like daddy? She is a great eater. Loves pretty much anything you give her. New favorite food is grapes. Loves them!!! She's about 27-28 lbs. She wears size 24 mths-2 T in clothes and a size 5-6 shoe. And I hate to say it, but she LOVES Barney!!!! Anytime we turn on the TV she says "Bawney". I'm already tired of the purple dinosaur. Things you do for your kids. We still watch youtube nursery rhymes daily. She still enjoys her bappies. Who knows when she will get rid of that thing. I guess when we decide to flush it. She has a mouthful of teeth. I think she's getting a few more as we speak. Last Wednesday, daycare called to tell me that she had a fever, so I left about 45 min early to pick her up. Thursday she stayed home with my mom because I had Benchmark exams to give, and Friday I went ahead and took her because she acted like she felt fine, but on the way to school she fell asleep in the car, which she never does. Her cheeks were kind of flushed, so I called Shawn to come get her. Right before he got there, she threw up a banana that I had given her that morning. So needless to say, Friday was rough. I ran to pick up my tests and had like 10 minutes to spare. Whew. Anyways... So the past few days she's ran fever and had the rhea. No fun.

So, I keep telling myself that I need to take time to do Ella's 17 month post...but.... finding the time is another story. Instead, I am writing to tell you a bigger issue that we've had the last week. After Ella being sick the weekend before last, she has been waking up in the middle of the night wanting to be held and rocked backed to sleep. Let me just tell you that this is NOT my child. Yes, we rock her to sleep and she's really good about laying down and sleeping through the night. She has done this since she was like 4 months old. Rarely does she wake up, unless she's sick or her teeth are bothering her. Well...this all changed about a week ago. Now it seems that every night she wakes up and starts crying and wants to me held. So, of course, we go get her out of bed and spend time rocking her back to sleep. This takes time.... Ugh. So recently we found out that if you lay her on the spare bed, she is out in like 3 minutes. Of course, we surround the bed with hundreds of pillows. Problem solved. So what's the deal? About a month or so ago, they started putting her on a cot at daycare and she does great! Is she now too big for her crib? I don't understand. I decided today to purchase a bed rail for her convertible crib, so we can take the side down and let her sleep on her 'big girl' bed without her falling off. I hope and pray that this works. We have been spoiled for so long with 8 hours of sleep straight... Teeth? Just spoiled? A stage? Who knows.

YIKES! I just got back from watching my kids play against Bergman tonight. I honestly don't remember how rough kids are at this age on the court. I'm talking about slapping and hitting and kicking... Its brutal. The entire time I'm saying 'foul...hello FOUL'... Its insane! I enjoy watching them play. Makes me proud! (even tho I'm just their teacher) The boys are really good this year. They are undefeated, yet the girls. EEEK! There are some that are really good, and others... They try their best, that's all I can say. It cracks me up watching and listening to some of the parents. Oh my! I'm sure I would react the same (or not). I took Ella with me tonight and her little friend was there from daycare. They had so much fun playing together. I'm thankful that she had someone there to keep her occupied, or it might have been a disaster!

We also took our kiddos on a field trip today to the Imax to watch Rango. Pretty good. There was some language, but that was expected since it was PG. The kids that scored proficient or advanced on the Benchmark from last year were able to go on the trip. Now maybe this will give them some incentive to do their best this year... Speaking of which, we are exactly 3 weeks away. YIKES!

Fake Bake

Spring is officially here and you know what that means.... Summer is just around the corner. So that brings about short sleeves, capris, flip flops, shorts, and yes the dreadful swimsuit. I am not looking forward to that. The one good thing about this summer is well for one my mom bought us season passes to SDC. I can't wait to take Ella! I also have plans of taking her to the park this summer, and maybe hit up the pool a few times as well. With her being a red head, that means pale skin and very little sun. But still yet, we will enjoy it while we can.

This also brings up the fact that summer usually means having a nice tan... I have been 'fake baking' since I was in high school and recently decided to give this up, mainly for health reasons. Instead of spending money on tanning sessions, I decided to invest in a new 'fake baking'...
If you've ever tried sunless tanning lotion, then you know it can be a little 'fake' looking at times, but let me tell you that this stuff is the greatest! For just around $15, I purchased this wonderful lotion that goes on so smooth, no streaks, no orangish color, just a nice glowing tan. You can even use it on your face! I was a little apprehensive at first, but after a trial run, I was sold!!!

I think this past week has been the longest week ever! I still haven't adjusted to the time change. Oh how I would love some time off. Ha! No Spring Break for us.

And to top it off Ella came down with something yesterday at daycare. They called me just about the time that school was being dismissed. She had being throwing up and they said she hadn't felt well all day.

She started running fever last night and neither one of us slept. She was constantly moving around and then she would just wake up and start crying. I know she felt horrible. Thankfully she is feeling much better today!

New TV

Shawn, Ella, and I went to Branson last night to look at getting a new TV for our bedroom. All we had in there was a 15" flat screen that I purchased when I went off to college. Shawn has been asking for one for a while so I finally gave in. After looking at Best Buy and Wal-Mart, we decided to go with a 32" Sony LCD and the best part..... It was on sale!!!!! The bad part.... Ella will not be going to Branson with us again until she is 5.

Ella has recently started watching youtube. She loves to sit in your lap and watch the nursery rhymes they have on video. However, lately they keep playing over and over and over in my head throughout the day. Makes me want to break out in song and dance. Ok..not exactly.

16 months

Hard to believe Ella is 16 months. She keeps me on my toes, that's for sure! I never realized how easy things were before she became mobile. Oh my! Its constant. Go, go, go. But she is a blast at this age! Earlier tonight, Shawn was encouraging Ella to flex her muscles by showing her how to hold her arms. It was the cutest thing! She would hold up her arms and show her muscles. I need to get this on video.

She only takes about an hour and a half nap a day, but she usually sleeps around 10 hours a night. Her bedtime is anywhere from 8-9 depending on the day. She loves pretty much any food you give her. I honestly don't think she has a favorite right now.. She loves it all! She says new words all the time. I need to write them down, but her new word is 'hold me'. The other night I kept raising my arms and saying "hold me Ella, hold me" and she would wrap her little arms around me and say "hol me". So sweet. She likes attention. Anytime we go out in public, she wants to wave at everyone we run in to. She will throw up her hand and say "hey". If you don't say anything to her, she will continue to say "hey" until you acknowledge her. Lol. I have no idea where she gets this.

Daycare is the greatest thing lately. We are constantly talking about her little friends at school. She has moved up to the toddler room and can't get enough of it! Makes me feel good to know she enjoys it. And now when I drop her off or pick her up, she thinks she's too big to be carried. She would rather walk. If you dare try and pick her up, she throws a little fit. I told someone the other day that the so called 'terrible twos' are coming a little early. She is the sweetest, most loving baby you will meet, but has a little ornery side as well.

Her new favorite toy is her baby stroller. She LOVES to push her little baby around in it. Last weekend, I picked up a little corn popper push toy. I think this is the best toy for toddlers! So fun!

This is going to be a totally random post. There are a few things that I need to post and haven't had time. Number 1: Happy late birthday to my best friend in the entire world! Meg..thanks for always being there. You've been my best buddy since Jr. High and I couldn't ask for a better friend. I'm horrible about remembering things...If I don't put them on a calendar or in my phone, I will totally forget everything! I'm sorry this is a few days late.. :) Love you! Number 2: Ella went to the doctor last Tuesday and weighs right around 26 lbs and 33 in tall. I don't remember her head circumference, but according to one of the boys in my class, Ella's head is bigger than his younger sister's. (His sister and Ella go to daycare together and she is about 5 months older..) Gotta love kids! They are always completely honest about things... I will update soon on Ella at 16 months. Anywho. Number 3: Bachelor. I didn't update last week, but you really didn't miss that much. Shawntal was sent home. I'm totally shocked! Ok, not exactly. Totally saw it coming. And tonight...Ashley was sent home. Hate to say it...I saw that one coming also. Too immature for 39 year old B-rad. But she is still sweet. But was it me or did she talk with her hands alot? I was kind of distracted when she talked because she kept moving her hands all over the place. So now its down to Emily and Chantal. I'm ready for the final rose ceremony. Who will he choose?

She's gone! Michelle, that is, and of course Britt. I told you I saw it comin'. Michelle was honestly left on the show for the drama. This show is all about drama and its turning in to some nasty Playboy photo shoot. YIKES! I watched Michelle on Ellen the other day and she even admitted to be a little looney. She really didn't have much to say about Monday nights' episode with her leaving in the limo and curling up in a ball staring at the camera. Mature? Not exactly. She told Ellen that they cut several scences in order to make her seem a little over the top. Do I believe that? Maybe. Do I think any differently of her? Not exactly. So...the one on one with Brad and Britt. I do agree with a friend of mine when she says they acted like brother and sister. Their entire date was totally boring. I don't blame him for sending her home after dinner. I think it was the right thing to do. Don't drag it out... when you're both miserable. I think the date started going downhill when she said "I'm not really an affectionate kind of girl." Nice. Not the thing to say when you're on a show that is all about affection. And with a bachelor who only wants affection. He really doesn't care if you're good looking, intelligent, with kids, or works at a funeral home. He just wants affection. What guy doesn't?

Emily and Brad's date was so romantic. However, I am a little concerned that she is holding back too much. I realize that she has a past and has a hard time putting herself out there, but she signed up for it. If she wasn't ready, then why go on national television just to put your guard up? Hopefully, by next week things will change when they have the hometown dates. Emily is still my #1 gal!! Go Em!

Chantal... Oh Chantal... She has already told the guy she loves him. I think from the first night when she came out of the limo and slapped the guy in the face until now telling the guy you love him... that's a little extreme. Make up your mind. But, he's totally in to her. No surprise.

Next week, I have a feeling that Shantal will be the next to leave. If you watched the previews she takes Brad to the funeral home where she works...Seriously? You bring the guy home to meet dead people? I'm thinkin' something isn't right with this girl. Well Shantal, don't worry about packing your bags again sweetie, you'll be staying put. Home sweet home.

So, that leaves Ashley (which thinks Brad's name is babe), Emily, and Chantal. I could be totally wrong... I'm no Reality Steve. But, your thoughts?

Date Night

Shawn and I had our pre-valentine's date last night. We left Ella overnight with Shawn's parents for the first time and headed to Branson. Our first stop was to the Imax to see Just Go With It. Probably the funniest movie I've since in a long time... HILARIOUS. Its a must see! A++++. We had popcorn, drinks, AND nachos w/ jalapenos. Sooo good! After the movie, we went to the greatest Mexican restaurant ever, Cantina Laredo. After Cantina's, we stopped by Chili's to have some dessert. Crazy right? I think I had about 2,ooo calories just on our date alone. No joke. After stuffing myself where I looked 9 months pregnant, we ran to TJ Maxx and Target. Brings back memories.. Pre-Ella memories.. She is the greatest thing in this world, but a night away isn't so bad every now and then, right? Here lately, when we take her out to eat with us, she will sit in her highchair a good 15-20 minutes max. After that, she will throw a fit to get out. I don't know what her deal is. She used to be sooooo good about going out to eat with us, but not anymore. Last night, we were able to eat our meal, carrying on a conversation, and not have the entire restaurant staring at us. Usually, we are trying to feed her, keep her still and in her seat. Somehow she still manages to make a scene. But...let me say it again...She is the greatest thing in the world! :)

15 Months

I'm a couple weeks behind, but Ella turned 15 months on the 26th. She is getting so big! We haven't been to the doctor for her check-up because of all the snow.

Ella has been walking really well for over a month now. She has recently learned how to squat down to pick up something and stand back up on her own. So big! Ella's new favorite food is beef raviolis. Gross! But she loves them. Oh and her favorite fruit is NANA'S. Oh my goodness...She's constantly going around the house saying "nana...nana". While we were snowed in last week, that is all she asked for. So I made sure on Saturday to pick her up some nana's. Everything now is "thank you". Anytime you give her something, or she gives you something she says "thank you". So polite. She normally takes an hour and a half nap everyday..Sometimes less, sometimes more. She has 12 teeth, and has two more coming in on the bottom. I recently posted about her new 'bapies' (paci). Well, I am really going to hate myself later on for it. She recently moved up to the toddler classroom at daycare and she LOVES it! She was the oldest one in her class, but now she's the youngest. She says Romeo which sounds like "ro ro". Her new favorite song is Row Your Boat. She will start it for you by singing "row, row, row.." and if you don't starting singing right away, she will continue to sing it over and over again. Here lately if you ask her a question, no matter what it is, she either says "huh" or shakes her head and say "ugh-ugh". She also loves to say bye if you're leaving her and blow kisses. Its so cute because she says it so plainly. She will also say "hey you". If you say "ready, set, go..." she will take off running (aka waddling fast). She loves it! Lately, she has been a momma's girl since we've been home with all the bad weather. We've had so much fun together, but I am kind of ready to get back into the swing of things, and I think she is too. The other day when I dropped her off at daycare, she was reaching for the lady even before we walked in the door. It makes me feel good to know she enjoys it. She is definitely a squealer. Oh my! I just love her to pieces!

The Bachelor

Let me give you the run down on this season's The Bachelor.... Brad Womack. He's from Austin, TX and owns like a chain of bars... Not real sure, but I do think he's loaded. Just sayin'. Anyways... he was on Season 5, 6, 7...honestly I don't know because I never watched that season, but needless to say... He's BACK... I guess the first time he was on, he didn't choose a girl, so now he's back for his second rodeo. This should be interesting..

Here's the run down on the girls left. There are 6 of them. Britt-the sweet, skinny, blond girl. I honestly don't have a whole lot to say about her...except that I really think she will be the next girl to go home. She's from somewhere, doesn't talk a whole lot, needs to cut her hair because it does not fit her face at all and she has bangs. Really? Bangs? I'm not talking the cute bangs either. We're talking old school bangs with hair down to ankles...Like I said. Sweet, cute, just not for Brad. (I'm turning into Michelle) Speaking of the devil... Michelle- mother and psycho hair dresser that thinks she's the hottest thing out there and has some serious and I mean serious issues! Like the girl is constantly telling Brad who needs to go home and how they are meant to be together and bla bla bla. This girl is crazy. Like last night she said she wished that one of the girls would get eaten by apes. Oh my. I'm soooooooooooo ready for her to be sent home. After she leaves the show, she needs to get herself checked in to some mental hospital because she has some major issues. Ashley-the dentist. I really liked this girl at first, but here lately she's been acting a little strange as well. She's cute and petite and of course has perfect teeth, but she can't take the heat. She is not made for this show... She has made a fool of herself too many times and now that she's shown that side of her to Brad, I think she won't last long either. Shantal-the funeral director. Enough said. Send her home. Chantal- (not to be confused with Shantal)-executive assistant. Recently divorced to a guy she had been with for like 10 years... I like her. She's fun, outgoing, pretty, normal...I think she is one of my favorites. No kids. 28. Once again...normal. And now to my fav....Emily-mother and event planner for a children's hospital.. This girl has it all. She's sweet, down to earth, pretty..honestly just a really genuine person. She's kind of young (25) for Brad (39), but then again who cares about their age, right? Its like Ken and Barbie all over again. I almost think she's kind of too good for him. She is one to kind of hide her feelings. She's kind of shy when it comes to the camera and doesn't want to flaunt herself all over the place. I like that. She's not trashing the other girls or getting totally wasted and making a complete fool of herself. Like I said before..she's genuine. To give you the background on her, she had dated her high school sweetheart, and they had gotten engaged. I guess he was some NASCAR driver or something and was killed in a plane crash. She found out right afterwards that she was pregnant and she named her daughter Rikki after her fiance. How precious is that. I just think she's the greatest.

Oh, before I forget... Let me fill you in on Brad. Well he's not the best looking guy out there, but he's decent. He has this huge tattoo on his back, which looks hideous. Tall, tan, and toned. But for some reason when he opens his mouth, all of those things totally disappear. He's a complete idiot. He says "I totally know what you mean" like 19,000 times a show... And he tells every girl he spends one on one time with that they have a strong connection.. Basically what it boils down to is he just wants to make-out with them. No surprise. And they totally get caught up in the garbage he tells them. No surprise there either. But I'm addicted to this season, so I will continue to watch.

Zhu Zhu to the Rescue!

About a month ago, Shawn and I were in Wal-mart and noticed a Zhu Zhu pet on the clearance aisle. I told Shawn that a lady that I work with got one for her granddaughter that is only a few months older than Ella and she loved it, so I figured Ella would love it also. WRONG! We spent $7 on this little furry thing that looks like a hamster and runs around on wheels making these crazy noises. Needless to say, the dog loved it, but Ella hated the thing. She would scream and cry every time we turned in on.

Now...think back to a few posts earlier when I wrote about how Ella enjoyed eating Romeo's dog food... Well, we put two n two together and figured if we couldn't keep her out of the dog bowl, then we would try something that we both knew would keep her out. Zhu Zhu to the Rescue! We decided to put it right next to his bowl and every time she even thought about coming near it, she would see the furry thing and take off. Well..our plan worked for a while, but then she got smart and realized that it was just there for looks and it couldn't hurt her. But, one push of a button and she remembered really quick. Sounds evil right? Well.. you try getting up every five seconds to make sure she isn't nibbling on some puppy chow... Point made.

Well, today was the first 'official' day out of the house since Monday. Shawn and I dropped Ella off with Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Lin Lin so we could have "date". We ate at one of my favorite restaurants in town, Leonardo's, then headed to the movies to see The Dilemma. When we got there, they told us the theatre didn't have heat, but we said that we would tough it out anyways. Bad idea. We were the only two in the theatre, and soon realized that maybe it wasn't such a good idea with it being like 30 degrees. We made it through the previews, when the movie shut off for some odd reason. We decided that maybe we better just try it another time. We were both cold and didn't feel like waiting until they got the movie fixed and turned back on, so we left. So...off to Wal-mart we went. HORRIBLE idea! I think everyone (plus some) were there. We only had a few items to pick up, but it took us an hour to get out. I'm sure with everyone having cabin fever and it being Super Bowl weekend that explains everything. But, to say the least, it was nice to get out of the house. There is just so much Ellen and Oprah that you can watch in a week.... Speaking of the Super Bowl... I really don't care about the Packers or the Steelers, but for certain reasons..I will be somewhat interested to see who is ahead at the end of each quarter. :)

So I hear its supposed to snow tomorrow and again next week? Oh my. I am getting a little burned out on the snow. Spring cannot come soon enough!

That's right folks. Its gone. All of it, i'm sure. The entire week. Gone. But...I'm ok with that at the moment. Ask me around the third week of March, and I'm sure I'll be a little upset. This weather is INSANE! Saturday was like 70 degrees and today its like 22 degrees, icy, and snowy. I have enjoyed the snow days, but I am ready for Spring. No doubt. I've done laundry, picked up around the house, and now I'm laying on the couch enjoyin' a few minutes of relaxation while my child takes a nap.

Just thought I'd share a few things... I'm sitting here watching my 2nd football game...*yawn* and I'm bored out of my mind, so I thought I'd post about our typical Saturday's at home...

7:30 Ella wakes up (that means everyone else wakes up as well)
8:30 Breakfast
9:00 Clean my house/Laundry
10:30 Take shower
12:00 Ella takes a nap
12:30 We eat lunch
1:30 Ella eats lunch
2-5 Be lazy
5:00 Get ready
6:00 Go out to eat
7:00 Wal-mart (YUCK)
8:00 Unload groceries
9:00 Ella goes to bed
10:00 I go to bed :)
12:00 Shawn goes to bed

And there ya have it folks! Typical Saturday at the Hovis home. Yes, I know, extremely boring, but I honestly enjoy it. Then again, I guess that's what happens when you have kids.

Moving on... I recently purchased an iphone and let me just say its the greatest thing ever! Shawn added an app for me that is able to take retro pictures. Its so fun! If you've noticed the new pictures of Ella, that is where they came from. I have everything right at my fingertips. So, I will definately be updating my blog more often.
